Welcome to "Away At The Lake" a cozy lodge like home fit for all seasons. With any season , enjoy the warm sunshine outdoors and the outdoor fire pit on cool nights. Relax and enjoy the small town active resort atmosphere ,while enjoying the view of pristine Clear Lake from the front deck, living room and bedroomsThe location is ideal - and you can literally walk or bike to anywhere and still have that private, cozy place to come back to. Light and airy fully furnished with comfortable furniture, all linens, all kitchen pots, pans and utensils, a washer and dryer, wood burning stone fireplace, 2 decks, fire pit, gas grill, parking area for boat or RV, and nearby access to boat ramp. Sprinkled throughout "Away At The Lake" are some fun pieces - like an upstairs bedroom that has an original bed owned by Elvis and a Buddy Holly room! There is so much to see and do and really an easy walk to the lake, beach, boat dock, bike trail, the downtown Historic Main Street shops and restaurants and, of course, the historic Surf Ballroom. If you have the time, You might want to take a short drive to Mason City (known as the River City) which is home to Meredith Wilson who penned the original 1957 musical "The Music Man" and Frank Lloyd Wright - who would of thunk! While you are there you can also visit the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum and the art festival (which is usually held in August). Here are some more things that you might want to see and do to make your any season stay both relaxing and enjoyable. Lake Activities - Clear Lake is a beautiful 3,643 acre clear clean lake for boating, skiing, jet skiing, sightseeing, wind surfing and sailing. In fact, there are many sailboat regattas held on the lake as well as the famous annual "Celebration of Kites" held in the winter that is featured on Good Morning America. There is a boat dock just down the street at the lake and one of a number of sandy beaches is within a short walking distance. Fishing is great for Walleye, Muskie, Pike, Bass and many more fish including pan fish. Clear Lake is also ideal for ice fishing! Fishing contests and guided tours all year long. Wintertime brings snowmobiling races and skating and sledding. Biking is big around Clear Lake. There is a 17 mile lighted loop around the lake and you can bike all the way to Mason City. Many bike rides and races are held in the area. You can plan an excursion aboard the Lake of the Lake. Another good time, could be a visit to McIntosh Woods State Park located on the Northwest part of the lake where you might spot some of the local wildlife. You don't need to drive you can walk or bike to historic downtown's brick sidewalks to shop the antique stores and boutiques and relax at the lakeside restaurants and bars. Diamond Jo's Casino is just a short drive where you can gamble, dine and enjoy a show. Slots, table games, no limit poker, four restaurants to choose from and live entertainment every Friday and Saturday. The Clear Lake Band Shell hosts many weekend festivals and live entertainment experiences as well classic car shows. You can also see the classic cars go up and down the streets - including when you are sitting on the front deck of "Away At The Lake" - so much fun. Enjoy Clear Lake. But if you have to work or check into the office while there, there is a laptop friendly area, wifi and printer and a desk and comfortable chair to use if you must work while still enjoying the view of the lake.
